Our Story

Owners Denise and Chris Nelson moved to Kentucky from Texas in 1996 with a desire to find a beautiful site in the country to build their dream home, plant a few grape vines, and develop their vision to create a small winery to showcase what Kentucky could add to the world of premium, locally-produced wine. Over the last quarter century this bold vision has been realized and expanded, with the addition of a distillery focused on producing premium Brandies and Rum, and a restaurant offering wholesome, delicious, hand-crafted cuisine by utilizing the best locally-grown, organic, all-natural ingredients available. The trifecta of Chrisman Mill Vineyards and Winery, Fuego Grill and Outdoor Kitchen, and Hummingbird Distillery offers visitors a relaxing escape where they can enjoy an all-inclusive portfolio of fine wines, spirits, cocktails and casual and luxury dining experiences, set amongst the beautiful rolling hills of Jessamine County, Kentucky. In an increasingly lonely world filled with stress and negativity, a trip to the vineyard is a chance to escape to a place where visitors can reconnect, relax, and discover new experiences that will leave them feeling like part of the family.
